Traveling can be a rather isolating endeavor; you are going to new places where people might speak a different language than you, maybe people look different than you, they eat different food than you, they drive on the opposite side of the road than you, forcing you to look over your left shoulder before your right. There are so many factors that add to the unknown and adventure of travel. But there is nothing more comforting than seeing a familiar face in an unfamiliar place. As we got off the train from a long travel day that started on the opposite side of the UK, we were greeted with a smile and a hug from my best mate Kamron and his girlfriend Claudia.

Our time in Portsmouth was very chill. Both Kamron and Claudia are currently in University, so we did our best to blend into their schedule. We went for walks, slept in late, went to their university gym, stayed up late chatting, and I played a healthy amount of CoD. I can’t remember the last time I played video games, but it was fun getting back into it for a few days. On one of the days, Kamron and I decided to have a boys day and go to Brighton to watch a football match against Wolverhampton. Neither of us had ever been to a Premier League match before, and this one sure lived up to the hype. We got into the city early and made sure to grab a few beers and the mandatory fish and chips before heading into the stadium. When we arrived at our seats, we looked at each other and all we could do was laugh; we couldn’t have asked for better seats. Second row and close to the halfway line, we were so close to the players we could hear the turf under their boots as they ran on the pitch. The game itself was packed with action, and it was a good day to be a Brighton supporter. By halftime the score was 4-0, and 6-0 by full time. Wolves never stood a chance. The weather was amazing, the vibes were high the whole game, and then we met up with Claudia’s cousin, who also was at the match, for a few pints post-match. It was a wholesome day with a good friend and so fun to watch some world class sports live and up close.

After 3 weeks of traveling around the UK, we said our farewells in Portsmouth before heading off to warmer weather. It was very bittersweet leaving, as we really enjoyed our time in the various places we went in the UK, but we were ready for the next adventure. We soaked up the last bit of cold weather before heading off to our next stop - Valencia, Spain.
